Five must-have items for your post-op shopping list

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Have you recently scheduled a date for your breast augmentation surgery? If so, you're likely brimming with excitement over the prospect of having the fuller, more feminine figure you've always dreamed of!

While breast implants can change your life for the better and allow you to gain the look you've always longed for, it's important that you take steps before the procedure to make sure you're ready.

Namely, it's essential to have everything you'll need in the days following the procedure to ensure that you have a quick and speedy recovery. With these five, must-have items you can kick back, relax and heal in the best way possible!

1. Supportive bras
One of the most frequently overlooked things that women forget when they're running through their post-op shopping lists are bras, and not having firm and supportive ones in the weeks after surgery can actually create problems.

During your breast augmentation consultations, you can consult with your plastic surgeon about the right kind of bra to invest in. Most will recommend wearing sports bras, which help reduce swelling and hasten the recovery process. Bras featuring zippers can also be a great choice and enable women to remove them with ease in the immediate days following surgery.

2. Lots of pillows!
After you have your surgery, you'll be taking it easy for a few days. In order to make the first few days after surgery easy, surround yourself with pillows! Pillows can give you an extra layer of support and comfort while your body gets some much-needed R&R time.

3. Cozy slippers
Breast implants are a great way for you to enjoy newfound confidence and poise, but immediately after surgery, you may be feeling a little worse for wear.

During this time, it's crucial that you pamper yourself. By pulling a pair of cozy slippers over your feet, you may not be getting rid of aches and pains related to the procedure, but you can absolutely help yourself feel better overall.

4. Your favorite movies
When was the last time you were able to just lie down and watch your favorite flick? After your surgery, you'll finally have some time to yourself to just take it easy. Creating a playlist of your most beloved movies can help keep your mind focused on healing as you try to get better.

5. Comfort food - following your plastic surgeon's recommendations, of course!
From pudding to Jell-O, comfort food can make all the difference in the world when you're trying to recover from a breast augmentation procedure. You should check with your plastic surgeon before adding anything too crazy to your diet!
