Academic Background

Undergraduate:

A native of Alabama, Dr. Bentley graduated with high honors from Auburn University before heading to the University of Alabama School of Medicine where he was awarded a fellowship for outstanding scholarship and aptitude. He completed both his general surgery and plastic surgery residencies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he distinguished himself in facial and neck surgery research and the most complicated breast procedures.

Graduate:

Let me tell you about the most important certifications he possesses and why you should look for them when selecting a plastic surgeon. Dr. Bentley is a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an Active Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Dr. Bentley also holds membership in The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), which is the highest recognition for excellence in cosmetic surgery of the face and body.

Medical:

To be an active member of ASPS, a doctor must have completed four years of medical school, three to five years of clinical training in general surgery, and a residency of at least two years in an accredited plastic surgery hospital program. In addition, the doctor must be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and have passed the scrutiny of his or her peers.
