For Sheryl Young, M.D., plastic surgery is not about treating a body part; it's about treating people. "I love the aspect of helping people look their best. I've always been artistically inclined, and plastic surgery allows you to sculpt and reshape the body and face." "I like to take the time to get to know my patients and find our what's important to them. I think everyone has something interesting to share," the plastic surgeron explains. By the time she was in high school, Dr. Young already knew she wanted to go into medicine. What attracted her to plastic surgery as a specialty was that she could work with people of all ages and with all areas of the body. While Dr. Young likes all areas of plastic surgery, providing liposuction treatments for her patients is particularly rewarding. "Liposuction takes cosmetic surgery even one step farther because you have to take the whole body into perspective," she explains. Many women come to Dr. Young for breast surgery - ranging from cosmetic breast augmentation to breast lifts, breast reductions and reconstructions.
